Grease Monkey Auto Care Service Center Breaks Ground
At 1:00 PM on Friday March 24th, Bowmarc Station broke ground on their Phase 1 project which includes a Grease Monkey Auto Care Service Center and Monkey Shine Car Wash. Bowmarc Station is owned by the long-time local Spillman family and was represented by brothers Mike Spillman and Richard Spillman who welcomed all those in attendance which included many Spillman family members as well as representatives of the project architect, Cartwright Architects and Engineers, the general contractor, Ascent Construction, Inc., the franchise Grease Monkey and Monkey Shine Car Wash as well as several City Officials.
While welcoming everyone Mike Spillman indicated that the family has been in the community for over 60 years and how he personally remembers when it was just a few hundred residents and now being close to 8,000. “A lot has changed over the years”, he said, “and a lot of positive things have happened and there is more to come”. He continued that he was very excited about bringing to fruition this new business, a type of business the community has needed for some time and one that he believed would be successful for Bowmarc Station and for the city. He thanked everyone for the great support and was pleased with how the project was being received by the community as they looked forward to its completion.
Richard Spillman said that the project was an idea started about two years ago and was considered a project of real importance and one that should have a very positive impact on the community. “Wendover is my home”, he said, “I wanted this project to be one that would not only be successful but more importantly, that it would give something back to this community that is my home”.
Mayor Daniel Corona was asked to give some remarks saying, “We are very excited to see this project now underway and knowing the positive impact it will have to our growing community as it adds yet another important component to our growing retail business and the continued growth of West Wendover; there are exiting times ahead with all that is underway now.”
Phase 1 of the project is scheduled for completion later this summer. At the event, Mike Spillman indicated that they were now reviewing with the project architect the work for Phase 2 and hoped to continue on with that work shortly which would provide two additional retail buildings on the site for other business.
Jeff King Director of Grease Monkey Franchise Development which is headquartered in Denver, Colorado, indicated that Grease Monkey has franchises located throughout 33 states and that the West Wendover location will be the very first in Nevada.
Following the remarks the dignitaries picked up their shovels, dug some dirt and threw it high to cheers from the crowd gathered.
Congratulations to Bowmarc Station and the Spillman family. We wish you great success!
